Undergraduate Program in German

German Club and Honor Society

Description | Events

These two student organizations, the Delta Phi Alpha (German Honor Society) and the German Club, sponsor and organize various events which foster interest in the German language and culture, promote faculty-student interaction, and bring together the German-speaking community of Duke. We also represent students' interests pertaining to the German/German Studies Department.

Both groups are involved in the same activities, effectively functioning as one club. Delta Phi Alpha is the National German Honor Society and the Omicron chapter of Duke was founded in 1931. Members receive a certificate from the national office which honors their achievement in studying German. They also receive special notice on their transcripts.
