German Language Program The following is a presentation in outline form of the goals, organization, and content of the German Language Curriculum. This curriculum was developed over the course of several years, to ensure the integration of language, literature, and culture at all levels, as well as coherence from level to level, in terms of the development of students’ abilities in three areas: 1) language proficiency, 2) cultural literacy, and 3) critical and creative engagement. After outlining some of the basic considerations, principles, and goals that underlie this curriculum, the specific skills, content/contexts, and pedagogical strategies are presented for the Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced levels of instruction.
